Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator

Job Description

Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator
Thrift at Woodland Crossing (TWC) is a nonprofit thrift store serving the Elkhart community. We strive to be a friendly, caring, and welcoming presence where everyone feels valued and respected.
Through the generosity of our community, we give donated items a second life, promote responsible stewardship and care for God’s creation, and raise funds to support the work of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), focusing on disaster relief, peacemaking, and community development locally and around the world.
Our store is powered by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers working together in a busy, hands-on environment. We value teamwork, kindness, good stewardship, organization, flexibility, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
Position Summary
Are you a thrifter at heart? Do you enjoy finding hidden treasures, figuring out what things are worth, keeping things organized, and learning new things? This might be a great fit for you!
Thrift at Woodland Crossing is looking for a dependable, organized, and motivated person who is willing to learn and grow with us. We don’t expect you to know every part of the job when you start. We are willing to train the right person who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers and computers, enjoys working with people, and is eager to learn.
The Bookkeeping & Operations Coordinator is a hands-on position that combines bookkeeping, administrative responsibilities, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our thrift store.
We are looking for someone who can move comfortably between the office, sales floor, and warehouse, work independently when needed, be a strong part of the team, and take on increased responsibility as their knowledge and skills grow.
Previous bookkeeping, retail, or thrift-store experience is helpful, but not required.

Qualifications & Skills

The right candidate should be:
Dependable and trustworthy — follows through on responsibilities and handles sensitive information appropriately.
Organized and detail-oriented — able to maintain accurate records and keep work areas and systems organized.
Comfortable with numbers and computers — able and willing to learn our bookkeeping and store systems.
Self-motivated — able to work independently, recognize what needs attention, and take appropriate initiative.
A team player — willing to work alongside others and help wherever needed.
Goal-oriented — able to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency when needed.
Comfortable working with a wide variety of staff, volunteers, customers, and donors.
Able to communicate effectively and speak and understand English.
Spanish is a plus, but not required.
