Schedule: Part-time (Flexible with class schedule)
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in day-to-day accounting operations within a growing business environment. The intern will support internal accounting functions including accounts payable processing, reconciliation, and assisting in the development of structured payment plan schedules.
This role is intended to provide real-world exposure to how accounting systems function within a business and to help the intern develop practical skills necessary to operate as an internal accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
Enter vendor bills and invoices accurately into the company accounting system
Assist in building and maintaining structured payment plan schedules
Support monthly account reconciliations (bank, vendor, and general ledger accounts)
Verify documentation for completeness and accuracy
Assist in tracking open and completed payment obligations
Support month-end close processes
Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this internship, the student will:
Understand how accounts flow through the accounting cycle
Gain experience working inside a live accounting system
Develop practical reconciliation skills
Learn internal controls and documentation standards
Understand payment scheduling and cash flow considerations
Operate within a structured accounting environment
Qualifications
Required:
Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
Fundamental understanding of accounting principles
Working knowledge of how debits and credits affect accounts
Basic understanding of financial statements and account flow
Familiarity with accounting terminology (AP, AR, GL, reconciliation, accruals, etc.)
Strong attention to detail
Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred (but not required):
Completed introductory accounting coursework
Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks)
Prior office or administrative experience
