NURS 100 Exploring Nursing

Designed to provide students with an initial framework and context for understanding the role of a baccalaureate-prepared nurse within the healthcare system and exploring the domain of the baccalaureate-prepared nurse outside of a healthcare system. This course is an overview of nursing as a profession, reviewing the scope and standards of practice, the nursing code of ethics, and exploration of a variety of nursing roles. This course will expose students who are considering entering nursing, as their major, to the vast variety of roles within the field through one-on-one conversations with Registered Nurses from a variety of settings and will begin to set the expectations and rigor associated with nursing at a baccalaureate level.
