INT 407 Interpreting Ethics

This course will deal with practical and ethical issues in interpreting, decision-making, assignment assessment, environment management, politics and procedures within agencies and organizations. Students will be expected to integrate what they have learned about culture, cross cultural communication, ethics and critical thinking, and apply this knowledge to the field of Sign Language Interpreting. The course will cover ethical scenarios, interpreter liability, working in multicultural situations, and power, privilege and oppression. Prerequisite: INT 301 and INT 302 or consent of the instructor.
