COMM 265 Screenwriting

This foundational screenwriting course introduces students to the core principles of storytelling for the screen. Students will explore screenplay structure, character development, dialogue, and visual storytelling, while learning to craft compelling narratives for short films and feature-length projects. Through writing exercises, peer critiques, and analysis of screenplays, students will develop their own original scripts and gain an understanding of the collaborative nature of screenwriting within film production. By the end of the course, students will have completed a polished short film script, ready for production or further development.
