“Everything happens for a reason” is a short quote that I have learned to live by throughout my life. Never in my life would I have thought that I would be working for a college here in Goshen. Despite the fact that I’m a native of South Bend; I always thought I would move to the east or west coast and live the city life. I have quickly learned that my calling is to stay local and help future generations achieve their dreams though education.
As the new guy on campus, I am excited to be a part of the Goshen College community. I am of Mexican, African American and Caucasian decent, so I think I represent the epitome of multiculturalism on campus. My wife Alma and I have been married since October 2010 and we own a Siberian Husky that goes by the name of Nimbus. I love to learn about other cultures, including eating new foods, learning new languages and dancing.
Working at Goshen College makes me think back on my time as an undergraduate at Indiana University and how much I missed out on by not considering Goshen College as my school of choice. Smaller classes, personable faculty and a diverse global experience are just a few things that would have made my college experience a better one. It’s funny how things play out because I am right back here in Northern Indiana, working for GC and loving every minute of it. I encourage you to learn more about what Goshen College experience can do for you!
