Red Cents

Red Cents is an award-winning literary arts journal that showcases student writing, visual art and graphic design. It is edited and published by Goshen College students through the college’s Pinchpenny Press.

Red Cents regularly earns awards at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association (ICPA) literary magazine contest. These include:

2020-21: First place, Best Cover Design (Noelani Garcia); Second place, Best Short Story (Cristina Jantz); Third place tie, Best Overall

2017-18: First place, Best Overall Design (Siana Emery); First place, Best Single Issue (Courtney Crapser, Siana Emery, Maddy Keener, Elsa Lantz, and Carter McKay-Epp); Third place, Best Photo (Olivia Copsey); Third place, Best Creative Nonfiction (Christi Sessa)

Rosanna Nafziger Henderson ’06, who wanted to see the work of her classmates in print, proposed the idea for Red Cents in 2004. She came up with the title “Red Cents,” which was meant to complement the “Pinchpenny Press” theme with a name that suggested frugality.
