Transition to Teaching
Licensure Certificate Program
A Program for College Graduates Who want to Become Teachers

Our nationally accredited Transition to Teaching program is for individuals with a bachelor’s degree who are interested in obtaining their initial secondary or elementary teaching license. All coursework is remote and uses a mix of independent work and cohort Zoom meetings to give you flexibility and dynamic interactions with your colleagues and professors. At the end of this program, you have the option of adding 13 additional credit hours for a second license in Teaching English Learners and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT).
Whether in elementary or secondary education, all of our programs offer the following:
- professors with P-12 teaching experience
- individualized faculty advising and mentorship
- coursework that integrates the most recent research on students, schools, and learning
- an asset-based approach to students’ diverse backgrounds and abilities
- the ability to carry out all field work in your current context (if already working in a school)
- state and national recognition and accreditation

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we will accept up to two courses from an accredited institution if they were passed with a C or better and map onto courses in our program.
Yes. Prior to enrolling, we will work with you to confirm that you will be able to transfer our Indiana license to your state. At completion, we’ll guide you through the license transfer process.
Generally no. We need to address state standards through credited coursework. During the final capstone teaching, we do reduce the required credits by one for those teaching in their own classrooms.
