Kesling Wetland

The Kesling Wetland restoration began in the summer of 1992, with USFWS and IDNR funding support.  This involved breaking/plugging two drainage tile lines and installing a passive water control structure. A reed canary grass-infested area adjacent to the Farmstead was dredged to provide for more variable depth conditions and programmatic access.  Earthmoving machinery created an adjacent wetland slough and maintained programmatic access to the surrounding land.  The result was a 10-acre marsh and slough wetland community.
