I am passionate about people, seeking to understand the various factors that influence who we are. A heart for the hurting was what drew me to psychology, specifically clinically psychology. I always noticed and cared about the child that was not in the “in” crowd, the one cast aside. More introverted, I preferred to listen to a lone person’s in-depth story than to get involved in the exciting games. This meant that I regularly heard the pain that someone was experiencing, and that spurred my interest in clinical psychology. But, my first love, has always been in teaching, explaining information to others. Psychology, the study of human behavior and mental processes, is applicable no matter what one does. You always have people around you and knowing some psychology helps you empathize, be humble, and make more careful decisions (hopefully).
