Director of the Institute for the Study of Global Anabaptism & Assistant Professor of History
At Goshen College I teach entry-level history courses, Anabaptist history, and courses within the global education curriculum. I also direct the Institute for the Study of Global Anabaptism (ISGA), which seeks to enrich Anabaptist scholarship and communities through global connection and storytelling. We bring international guests to campus, connect remote researchers with the resources of the Mennonite Historical Society, encourage publication of new research, and share Anabaptist stories with communities in Goshen and beyond. I especially love connecting Goshen College students with this work! In this role, I also serve as the general editor of the Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia Online (GAMEO) and represent the ISGA in the Comunidad de Instituciones Teológicas Anabautistas (CITA).
Before coming to Goshen College, I worked in Colombia for nine years as a researcher and nonprofit leader with Mennonite Central Committee. My current research interests include the history of transnational theological networks among Latin American Anabaptists in the late 20th century and participatory methods for historical research in global contexts.
