“My educational and professional journey began right here in the communication department at Goshen College. I fell in love with working for The Record as a reporter, page editor and executive editor. I went on to earn a Master’s in Public Administration (nonprofit focus) at Arizona State University in 2013. A nonprofit leader in journalism and child advocacy for 15 years, I remain committed to collaborative and courageous service. Growing the digital side of the magazine I edited for 10 years established for me the need for accessible and dynamic content in any nonprofit setting. Leading a national nonprofit organization to prevent child abuse in faith communities, solidified my pursuit to advocate for the vulnerable and equip institutions to be steadfast in their victim-centered approaches. These various experiences led me to where I am today—serving, teaching and working alongside students at Goshen College.
I teach courses in writing, speaking, journalism and general communication. I serve as adviser of the independent student newspaper, The Record. I am a faculty coordinator for the Prevention Intervention Network and a faculty adviser for Goshen Monologues. I also direct the annual C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest. Finally, I led an off-campus Study-Service Term May Term “Local Indigenous Cultures and Perspectives” May 2025.
