Majors: English and Secondary Education

Why did you choose Goshen?

The main reason I committed to GC was because of affordability. GC was the best value out of all my options when looking at quality and cost. Additionally, choosing GC would allow me to live at home while still attending school as a commuter.

Why did you choose your major?

I am an English education major because it combines my affinity with literature and language with my passion for helping students see what they may not see in themselves.

What career are you interested in pursuing?

I hope to become an English teacher in a secondary setting.

What is a valuable experience that you have had at Goshen?

One valuable experience I have had at Goshen is a field placement I did in my first education course. I learned so much from my host teacher and her students, things that I want to translate to my own classroom someday. It was neat to be able to observe a local classroom in my first semester, it really helped to affirm and solidify my decision to study education.
