Major: TESOL and Secondary Education

Why did you choose Goshen?

I chose Goshen because I was interested in studying abroad through Study-Service Term (SST), and having opportunities to learn other languages.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose to major in TESOL because I wanted an opportunity to study linguistics, but a job where I could work with people and make a difference.

What career are you interested in pursuing?

Eventually, I hope to get a Ph.D. in linguistics and study sociolinguistics and teach at a university, but in the short term, I am hoping to teach English as a second language at a small school system so that I can teach preschool through 12th grade.

What is a valuable experience that you have had at Goshen?

One of the most valuable experiences I have had at Goshen is being able to take classes that deal with social issues and ethics. I really enjoyed Living Ethically, and Conversations on Race. I also really enjoy that I can take so many language credits here! I am looking forward to American Sign Language and Indonesian next semester.
