The MC USA Constituency Leaders Council (CLC) reflected on the question, “What does it mean to do church together?” at its biannual meeting at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana, on March 21-23, 2024. Moderator-elect Marty Lehman presided over the meeting, which introduced leaders to MC USA’s new strategic plan, invited them to participate in reinvention exercises, and offered inspiration through storytelling.

With 120 players participating in the competitive Chaffee County United Soccer Club, it might be easy to forget how soccer in Chaffee County was, not so long ago, small and divided. Coach Ben Oswald, an instrumental part of shaping youth soccer in Chaffee County, was recently named the 93rd inductee into the Colorado Soccer Association Hall of Fame. Oswald coached 40 years total.

A Goshen couple will soon celebrate eight decades of marriage.

This year, 824 students are enrolled at Goshen College. They come to Goshen from all over the world.

On Wednesday evening, I stood in front of about 30 college students and taught a history lesson. I was asked to talk about Goshen restaurant history at a small event over the dinner hour at Goshen College. Students in Associate Professor Philipp Gollner’s American Foodways class invited others on campus to join them for some food from Goshen restaurants. I think that was the draw of this event, not someone giving a brief talk.

Six Maple Leafs became All-Americans at the 2024 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in four events. Mathew Keitany led the way with his national runner-up finish in the men's mile. Mercy Chebet, Drew Hogan, Kevin Liddell, Jacob Friesen and Annika Alderfer Fisher were also named All-Americans for their top-eight finishes.

The Schowalter Foundation in North Newton, Kansas has provided $10,000 to fund up to four semester-long internships at the MC USA Archives and to help digitize fragile resources in 2024.

On Wednesday, March 20, Goshen College will welcome junior and senior high school students to the African American Open House organized by Lawrence Giden, Specialized Community Engagement coordinator.

The St. Olaf College Faculty Life Committee will present the 2024 Social Justice Award to Assistant Professor of Music Rehanna Kheshgi at an April 16 ceremony on campus. In accepting her award, Kheshgi will deliver a public lecture titled Creating Community through Sound: An Invitation to Pursue Social Justice Work Here and Now.

Mennonite Mission Network Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of interim executive director Marisa Smucker as the permanent executive director, effective January 23, 2024. Smucker has served as interim executive director of Mission Network since March 2023.

Proof that teachers and students can impact each other’s lives can be witnessed in the mutual admiration between educator Robina Sommers and her student Jason DuBois. Their relationship developed each of the four times Sommers had DuBois as a student.
