Goshen College Music Center, Sauder Concert Hall
In its first performance of the 2025-26 season, the Goshen College Performing Arts Series will host Los Angeles-based Mariachi Los Camperos in Sauder Concert Hall on Friday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Considered to be one of the finest mariachi ensembles in the world, Mariachi Los Camperos have deep roots in mariachi tradition. The group boasts two Grammys among many other accolades and premier performances, while having an significant role in raising the artistic standards and public perception of mariachi music in the U.S.
Founded in 1961, leader of Mariachi Los Camperos, Nati Cano, challenged the attitudes that led formally trained musical peers to look down on his beloved rural and working-class music. After Cano’s death in 2014, Jesús “Chuy” Guzmán took leadership of the band. Of Cano’s artistic vision, Guzmán said, “He wanted to have a mariachi that would have dignity, that would have heart, that would have soul, and he made Los Camperos.”
Tickets are $25, $20 and $15, and are available at goshen.edu/tickets or at the box office, 574.535.7566. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the heart and soul of Mariachi.
