Your safety matters — every hour, every day. Goshen College’s Campus Safety Office provides 24/7 coverage year-round, supporting a secure, welcoming campus environment. Located on the first floor of Wyse Hall, our team monitors 135 acres, 19 buildings, and 13 parking lots with patrols, security systems, and emergency response. Reach us at 574-535-7599 or safety@goshen.edu
We work closely with Goshen Police and other local agencies and follow a “Community Care-taking” philosophy. Although our officers are unarmed and unsworn, they’re trained to support students, faculty, and staff with everything from fire safety to after-hours building access.
The Mission of Campus Safety is to monitor, secure, report, and enhance the living, learning, and working experience at Goshen College. Forming an alliance with the community that we serve, we are committed to the philosophy of “Community Care-taking” while working with local police, fire department, students, staff, and faculty to build lasting partnerships.
Parking is free but registration is mandatory. Register online and display your parking sticker as instructed. Medical permits are available through Student Life. Campus Safety also assists with minor vehicle issues and enforces safe conduct around campus railroad tracks—cross only at designated crossings to avoid fines or injury.
All students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled in GC’s Omnilert alert system, which sends emergency notifications via text, email, and campus sirens. Storm shelters are clearly marked in all buildings — review emergency flip charts and know where to go during a tornado warning. Learn more about severe weather protocols and closings on our emergency page.
Tampering with fire equipment or false alarms carries serious penalties. Fire drills happen each semester in all residence and academic buildings. Unsafe practices — like burning candles or overloading outlets — can result in fines and community billing.
In a campus-wide crisis, gather in designated buildings: the Music Center (east side) or the Church-Chapel (west side). For emotional or mental health emergencies, contact your RLC or Counseling Services. Weekend support is available through on-call staff and Oaklawn (574-533-1234).
