Box Office Student Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Box Office Student Assistant will be responsible for responding to customer queries, processing orders and troubleshooting issues via phone, email and in person. They will have the knowledge of the ticketing process, know and communicate key information regarding campus events, demonstrate strong customer service skills and be able to work independently without direct supervision. This person will be in charge of opening and closing the box office each day and ensuring that all reports and special projects are finished in a timely manner. They will mentor new hires and assist with training new staff. This position requires a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts and includes evening concerts and events. This person will support and follow the core values of the college and agree to live by Goshen College’s community standards.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Primary Functions:

  • Process phone and in person ticket orders using the AudienceView Campus software
  • Maintain a positive attitude and a genuine interest in helping others.
  • Maintain knowledge of events currently available to customers.
  • Understand and relate purchasing policies to customers.
  • Collect complete and accurate data from customers.
  • Follow proper cash handling procedures and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Work regular weekly shifts, including days, weekends and evenings as assigned.
  • Mentor new box office staff, assist in training on the AudienceView software and answer questions
  • Ascertain and resolve customer concerns, requests, and/or complaints in a timely, courteous and informed manner.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions without direct support during daily shifts and ticketed concerts/events.
  • Assist with night of show walk up sales and will call distribution.
  • Troubleshoot night of show customer issues in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as required.
