Youth Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary:

This full-time, 12-month position supports the development and maintenance of partnerships with regional school systems and other youth serving organizations. Based in the Events office and coordinating closely with the Community Engagement committee. The successful candidate will provide support to faculty, staff, and community partners working with K-12 educational providers and GC summer youth camps. The successful candidate will connect with community partners and assist with matching them to campus partners. Reporting to the Director of Events, the Youth Outreach Coordinator will plan and deliver programming for youth on campus. In the spring and summer, this position provides key support and supervision of summer camp programs. 

This position relies on a grant and may be modified or ended due to changes in funding, which is anticipated to last until at least August 2028. The salary for this position is $46,940 annually.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Record of success working in partnership with K-12 educational entities (schools & non-profits)
  • Minimum of three years prior work experience
  • Self-motivated leader who can work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proven ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide cross-section of community members and college administrators, faculty, staff, and students. 
  • High level of interpersonal skills to cultivate and maintain meaningful, long term community partnerships
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and a strong follow-through on tasks
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the college mission and purpose and student success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • Prior experience working directly with youth (ages 5-18), preferably as a teacher
  • Broad knowledge of K-12 curriculum and pedagogy
  • Ability to help plan and organize workshops and informational sessions
  • Record of success working with grant-funded programs
  • Experience with assessment of student learning
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish

Essential Functions:

40%

  • Build relationships with educational community partners by participating in meetings and events 
  • Serve as key point of contact with K-12 educational entities seeking partnership with GC 
  • Coordinate special events for K-12 partners
  • Encourage increased engagement from GC departments in ongoing relationships with regional schools

50%

  • Propose and help to develop initiatives such as workshops and policy development for best practices with summer camps
  • Coordinate development and refinement of youth summer camp offerings and other related programming in collaboration with camp directors
  • Coordinate scheduling and the registration process of youth summer camps with events office 
  • Assist in recruiting students and other participants for programs, events and other offerings
  • Supervise and manage camp schedules, activities, arrival and departures.
  • Supervise and manage summer camp support staff (college interns)
  • Coordinate assessment process for summer camps and prepare summary reports for granting agencies and others 
  • Responsible for ordering and administration of camp supplies for all programs.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

10%

  • Collaborate with events staff for planning grant-funded or other assigned youth events and camps
  • Assist events department as needed for activities with adults as well as youth

Special Requirements

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel required related to the community, especially to local schools
  • Flexibility for scheduling throughout the year based on camp scheduling needs and grant cycles

Physical Demands

Within the normal range of an office environment. Ability to walk on campus for meetings and light lifting related to office work. Some off-campus travel.
