Interim Program Director, Sexual Assault Prevention, Education & Advocacy

Position Summary:

The position of Program Director, Sexual Assault Prevention, Education & Advocacy is funded by a three-year Department of Justice Grant, Office of Violence Against Women Campus Program Grant to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVDVSAS) on campus. This position will serve as the main point of contact for the day-to-day OVW Campus Program grant activities. It will ensure grant objectives are met with the following categories: Community Coordinated Response Team (CCRT), prevention, student conduct, law enforcement, and victim and survivor services. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt-level position. The grant started in October 2022 and ends in September 2025 with an opportunity to apply for renewal.  

The three month interim position of Program Director, Sexual Assault Prevention, Education & Advocacy is funded by a three-year Department of Justice Grant, Office of Violence Against Women Campus Program Grant to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus. This interim position will serve as the main point of contact for the day-to-day OVW Campus Program grant activities. It will ensure grant objectives are met with the following categories: Community Coordinated Response Team (CCRT), prevention, student conduct, law enforcement, and victim and survivor services. This is a full-time, 3-month, exempt-level position. The interim period starts in September 2025 and ends in December 2025.  A continuation grant proposal has been submitted to the Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women (OVW). If the notification from the OVW regarding  the continuation grant proposal is successful the new grant period for the OVW grant will start in January 2026. The interim director may apply for the continuation grant period.

This position reports to the Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a strategic planning phase and ensure project activities achieve its stated goals
  • Co-chair and coordinate a campus-coordinated community response team (CCRT)
  • Develop, implement and track an ongoing comprehensive program of activities, campaigns, and events designed to engage and educate students and employees about the prevention of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
  • Coordinate with partners to improve confidential victim services and advocacy on campus
  • Act as a liaison between internal and external partners regarding OVW-related matters, including collaborating with Campus Safety, Title IX, Housing & Residence Life, Athletics, and other student organizations, and community partners.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise any grant-funded staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate and implement targeted outreach, education, and support to diverse populations and groups that are historically marginalized, including international students, LGBTQ+ students, students of color, and students with disabilities.
  • Coordinate assessment and evaluation of grant activities
  • Participate in mandatory and ongoing OVW training and technical assistance
  • Oversight of the grant budget and all associated reporting requirements
  • Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by OVW grant strategic plan, Student Life.
  • Ensure compliance with OVW requirements 

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Dynamics and effects of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking
    • Principles of primary prevention work in domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking
    • Trauma-informed best practices
    • Federal and state legislation related to the prevention and response of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking
    • The complex issues surrounding education, engagement, support, and response for college-age populations
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or another relevant degree from an accredited institution
  • 2 years’ experience in prevention and/or response in the area(s) of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking
  • Experience working with grants preferred
  • Experience working with college students in a programmatic and advisory capacity preferred

  • Self-motivated, demonstrates initiative
  • Empathetic and sensitive to needs of young adults
  • Willingness to participate in intensive supervisory process both with students and members of the student development division

Physical Demands

  • Work some nights and weekends for events.
