Part-Time Accounting Clerk

Position Summary:
Goshen College seeks a part-time Accounting Clerk for a busy office. This position is responsible for accounting data entry and reconciliations, providing customer service to students and staff, preparing and sending statements and invoices, and collaborating with other accounting staff.
Essential Functions:
Accounting data entry and reconciliations
- Enter monthly transactions, including intercompany charges and routine monthly electronic payments.
- Prepare journal entries for receipts from various online payment processing platforms.
- Reconcile bank statements and clearing accounts.
- Work with students and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain monthly lists of outstanding checks for bank accounts and follow up with recipients to comply with unclaimed property reporting requirements.
- Prepare and send monthly account statements.
- Serve as backup for the Student Financial Services Administrator and Accounts Payable positions.
Customer service to students and staff
- Along with the Student Financial Services Administrator, serve as the first point of contact when people enter the office.
- Answer questions regarding account transactions in person, by phone, and by email.
Other Duties
- Interact and consult with Goshen College Accounting team to maintain accounting controls, processes, and procedures.
- Assist with student check-ins.
- Special projects as assigned to support the Accounting Office.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
Skills & Competencies:
- Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency with MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Quick and accurate data entry with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
Use of basic office equipment and extensive data entry and computer use.
