Professional singer, current student Tami Jantzi to present voice recital April 17

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College continuing education student and professional mezzo-soprano vocalist Tami Jantzi will present a voice recital in the Music Center's Rieth Recital Hall on Friday, April 17 at 9 p.m. Admission is free and the public is warmly invited.
The program, titled "Angels and Sinners," will feature works selected to highlight the conflicting facets of female passions, including works by Rossini, Schumann, Strauss, Kurt Weill, William Bolcom and more.
Jantzi has appeared in solo recital, concert and opera performances in musical venues throughout the United States and Europe. Her U.S. concert debut was at the 1999 Ravinia Festival, where she performed Bernstein's La Bonne Cuisine. She performed Bach's Magnificat in D with the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra conducted by Joerg Woelche. And she has performed Vorisek's Mass in B-flat with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Paul Freeman, which marked her European concert debut.
Jantzi has also worked with maestros such as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach and Peter Schreier. Her most recent opera roles include Romeo in "I Capuletti e i Montecchi," Orfeo in "Orfeo ed Euridice," Frederic in "Mignon," Orlofsky in "Die Fledermaus," Cherubino in "Le Nozze di Figaro," Dorabella in "Cosi Fan Tutte" and Isaac in Britten's "Canticle II." She is the 2000-2001 recipient of the prestigious Solti Foundation Award, and was featured by the Chicago Chapter of The Friends of the Solti Foundation in a recital with bass Samuel Ramey. She resides in Wiesbaden, Germany. A former Goshen College student, Jantzi has returned to campus this year to complete her music education degree.
Accompanying Jantzi is Christine L. Seitz, assistant professor of music. She was previously on the faculty at IUSB and Bethel College, Mishawaka, and has been a sought after recital accompanist in Michiana for 35 years. She has studied with Robert Hamilton and John Owings. Since 1978, Seitz has been the accompanist and assistant director for the St. Joseph Valley Camerata, and has been the organist at First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka since 1987.
