Faith activists Christine and Tom Sine to visit Goshen College March 16-18

GOSHEN, Ind. – Christian faith activists, authors and futurists Christine and Tom Sine will be on the Goshen College campus March 16-18. They will speak during chapel at 10 a.m. in the Church-Chapel on Wednesday, March 16 about "Is There Life After Goshen?: Anticipating New Challenges,"and on Friday, March 18 about "Is There Life After Goshen?: Creating New Possibilities." Chapel is free and open to the public. They will also be meeting with students in classes and other venues outside of chapel during the three days.

Christine and Tom are the founders of Mustard Seed Associates, a small organization that assists churches and Christian organizations to engage in the challenges of the 21st century.

Previously a physician in Australia, working to develop the healthcare ministry for Mercy Ships, Christine now speaks and writes about integrating spiritual rhythms into every day life. She still works as a consultant in international healthcare and travel medicine, and conducts seminars to help prepare people for overseas mission service. Christine has worked in Africa, Asia, Central America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific. She is the author of several books, including her most recent one, published in 2010, To Garden with God.

Tom Sine has worked for many years as a consultant in futures research and planning. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Washington, and has taught at the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University, and currently teaches at Fuller Theological Seminary in Seattle. Tom speaks widely at colleges, churches and missions conferences around the world, and has also published several books. His most recent is titled The New Conspirators: Creating the Future One Mustard Seed at a Time (IVP Books, 2008).

Together, Christine and Tom Sine speak to people from college students to mission executives, helping them identify some of the new changes coming to us from the future and imagining ways to respond to these challenges.

The visit by the Sines is being sponsored and organized by Goshen College Campus Ministries.
