GOSHEN — A new Leaf has turned.

The Goshen College Athletics Department released a new set of athletic logos at a campus ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

“We sincerely believe these logos honor the long and storied tradition of those who laid the foundation for the program more than 50 years ago as well as representing the positive and bold future ahead,” Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Josh Gleason said.

Designed by Mongoose Graphics out of Colorado, the logos centerpiece is a powerful “G” graphic interlocked into a stylish new Maple Leaf. The versatility of the set, though, includes standalone word marks, a leaf, and the “G” graphic allowing for use across a variety of mediums, while remaining consistent to its core.

Athletic Director Tim Demant said the Maple Leafs Athletic Club Board funded the project. A committee has been working since January on the re-branding process.

President James Brenneman then took the podium expressing his excitement over the project and the quality of the final product. “When people see this, they will know that these are the Goshen College Maple Leafs,” he said.

Gleason said the process included more than 1,000 sketches of leafs and “G” graphics done by Mongoose. He added that the design firm’s excitement in taking on the challenge and their affinity for Goshen College’s values, including servant leadership (Mongoose is donating back a portion of its contract in the form of scholarships), was instrumental in their selection.

The transition of certain items will happen throughout the summer, but a complete transition will happen over time, Gleason said.
