GOSHEN, Ind. – It won't just be the Cardinals and the Steelers showing up for the Super Bowl on Sunday. The Maple Leafs will also make an appearance, though without a football team.

For the first time, Goshen College will be advertising during the Super Bowl. The college's three commercials created for this will air on the local NBC affiliated station WNDU-16 – which has viewers in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan – before, during and after the Super Bowl game.

Will Jones, vice president for institutional advancement, conceived of the idea of the Super Bowl spots, which were coordinated by Richard R. Aguirre and Jodi H. Beyeler of the Public Relations Office. The spots were produced by Explore Media of Elkhart.

Jones said the spots have three primary purposes. "We are proud of the thousands of Goshen College alumni who live in the area and want to thank them for their service in so many fields. We're also proud of our students and want to acknowledge their many contributions in making Goshen an outstanding place to study. And we invite other students to join us," he said.

The commercials feature three students: Menan Assefa, a freshman biology major from Indianapolis, Ind.; Peter Miller, a senior English and music double major from Evanston, Ill.; and Tina Peters, a junior physics major from Yellow Springs, Ohio. The college's president Jim Brenneman also makes appearances in the 30-second spots.

On Sunday and after, the commercials can also be viewed at: www.goshen.edu/super.
