Goshen College nursing students named to national nursing honor society

GOSHEN, Ind. – Six Goshen College nursing students were honored March 28 with their induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing.

The 2004 inductees included:

Jared Beasley is a senior from Goshen. He is a 1994 graduate of Northridge High School.

Melisa Birkey is a senior from Des Moines, Iowa. She is the daughter of Lowell and Diane Birkey and a 2000 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She attends Des Moines Mennonite Church.

Julie Geiser is a senior from Apple Creek, Ohio. She is the daughter of Dale and Rebecca Geiser and is a 2000 graduate of Waynedale High School. She attends Kidron Mennonite Church.

Dorothy Muiruri is a senior from Nakuru, Kenya. She is the daughter of Evanson Muiruri.

Deb and Scott Eriksen are RN-BSN completion students in the Division of Adult and External Studies.

Rebecca Jellison is a 2003 Goshen College graduate.

 

To be inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, nursing students must earn at least a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrate academic integrity and rank in the top 35 percent of the graduating class.

Sigma Theta Tau International provides leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research to enhance the health of all people. The organization supports the learning and professional development of its members, who strive to improve nursing care worldwide. The group aims to create a global community of nurses who lead in using scholarship, knowledge and technology to improve the health of the world's people.
