FiveCore Media, Goshen College’s video production company, was nominated for a regional Emmy award for its 2013 “A Festival of Carols” video, which aired in December 2014 on PBS stations in Indiana. This is the first Emmy nomination for FiveCore Media and the second Emmy nomination for Goshen College since 2008. An awards ceremony will take place on June 27, 2015 in Indianapolis.
The GC Communication Department and FiveCore Media continue to be recognized for high-quality video work, both regionally and nationally, with awards from both educational and professional associations.
GC was also runner-up for Indiana Radio School of the Year. Fifteen different GC students earned individual awards in 17 categories, including seven first-place honors.
The Goshen College Communication Department and FiveCore Media recently released two documentaries on the work of Foods Resource Bank (FRB) and its partners in Kenya: "Sunset to Sunrise: Sustainable Living in Ndeiya" and "Culture and Community: The Maasai Shift to Settled Life."
The student-run station won the award from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System in 2011 and 2013, making it the only station to ever win twice.
The local Global Game Jam kicked off Friday evening in Goshen College’s Union Building, where 28 designers from Goshen College, Ball State University and the Goshen community gathered in a computer lab to spend 48 hours rapidly prototyping game designs.
Next fall, Goshen College will offer a new film production major for students interested in studying film.
Goshen College’s student run radio station, 91.1 FM The Globe, (WGCS), is in the running for the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s (IBS) “Best College Radio Station in the Nation” for a fifth year in a row, having won twice (2011 and 2013), the only station to claim the title more than once.
Last month, Goshen College senior and FiveCore Media student producer Abby Deaton received a bronze Telly Award for a short documentary-style feature video titled “Made in Goshen.”
