Goshen College to offer continuing education classes in Microsoft Excel

Goshen College will begin offering two new classes this spring for adult and continuing education students who want to grow their expertise in Microsoft Excel.

The month-long classes will take place Tuesdays and Thursday evenings online, and include an introduction-level course and an advanced-level course.

Introduction to Excel

This course covers a fundamental understanding of the Excel environment and the ability to complete tasks independently. This course demonstrates the correct application of the principal features of Excel. Students should be able to create and edit a workbook with multiple sheets for a variety of purposes and situations. Examples include professional-grade budgets, team performance charts, sales invoices and exercise logs. Interested individuals might include students, clerical workers, bookkeepers, instructors and others.

Time: April 5 to May 5, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8 p.m. EDT, via Zoom
Cost: $150
Non credit. No prerequisites.
Materials required: Computer with Excel 2013 or Excel 2016.

Advanced Excel 

This course helps prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam for Excel 2016 (number 77-727), which focuses on creating and managing worksheets and workbooks, managing data cells and ranges, creating tables, performing operations with formulas and functions, and creating charts and objects. Examples include professional-grade budgets, team performance charts, sales invoices and exercise logs. Interested individuals  might include students, clerical workers, bookkeepers, instructors, and others.

Time: May 10 to June 16, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8:30 p.m. EDT, via Zoom
Cost: $300
Non credit.
Prerequisites: working knowledge, as from Introduction to Excel.
Materials required: Computer with Excel 2016, 2019 or 365.
