This article is more than 7 years old.

Netflix has purchased the worldwide rights for The Incredible Jessica James , the closing night film of this year's Sundance Film Festival. The deal reportedly went for over $3 million.

The comedy, written and directed by Jim Strouse (People Places Things), stars Jessica Williams (The Daily Show) as Jessica James, an aspiring playwright in New York City. While getting over a complicated relationship, she meets Boone, played by Chris O'Dowd (St. Vincent), and together find a way to get through tough times.

Beachside Films produced the film, which is set to premiere this Friday. ICM Partners handled the sale.

Noël Wells (Master of None), Megan Ketch (Jane The Virgin), and Collin Smith (The Young Pope) co-star. The film was produced by Michael B. Clark (Safety Not Guaranteed) and Alex Turtletaub (Morris From America).

Netflix will release The Incredible Jessica James worldwide as a Netflix Original later this year.
