Date and time: Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at 1 p.m.
Location: Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall

Goshen College’s 2015-16 Afternoon Sabbatical series will open with a presentation from Gina Leichty, Co-Owner of Eyedart Creative Studio, and Eric Kanagy, President and CEO of RedPost, on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

In 1983, Goshen’s Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places and has since gone under major revitalization with more exciting changes to come. Kanagy and Leichty will offer up the latest updates on downtown happenings, including the feasibility of developing the second stories of downtown buildings, a railroad overpass, the Hawks Building, millrace canal development and Goshen Theater plans.

Leichty is the co-owner of Eyedart Creative Studio, a communications and advertising agency based in Goshen. She has been heavily involved with various projects downtown including being president of Goshen Theater Inc. and Downtown Goshen, Incorporated (DGI), where Kanagy also serves as the board president. DGI is an organization that works to promote the growth of the city of Goshen.

Kanagy, a 2003 GC graduate, has made his mark on downtown Goshen as a local entrepreneur. In 2007, Kanagy founded RedPost, a digital sign advertising company. Kanagy has also been involved with a variety of other projects in downtown Goshen, including being the co-founder and co-owner of Venturi, the only Neapolitan pizzeria in Indiana; helping to start New World Arts, an all-volunteer theater; and being a co-founder of Art House Cinema.

Afternoon Sabbatical is an annual series, started in 1977, that connects the college and the community through programs based on the expertise of both GC faculty and community members.
