The two City of Goshen mayoral candidates, Jeremy Stutsman (D) and Mary Cripe (R), will be on campus to discuss their priorities and ideas for environmental and sustainability initiatives.

The City of Goshen will elect a new mayor for the first time in nearly 19 years this fall.

Like the interconnected roots of the quaking aspens in a grove of aspen trees, our small towns and cities across northern Indiana and southwest Michigan are intricately connected. What happens in one town directly impacts all the surrounding communities. For better or for worse.

When a new business or restaurant opens, we can all benefit. When we have concerns about air quality, water quality or other environmental issues, the impact flows through all of our communities through the rivers and streams that connect us.

Whether you live in Goshen or a neighboring community, you are invited to hear the ideas of two leaders in Goshen as they respond to questions about sustainability and care of our natural environment. Stutsman is an at-large city council member and Cripe is the city’s civil engineer.

Sound of the Environment meets the first Wednesday each month at noon for a free community conversation about a different topic related to environmental sustainability. Feel free to bring your lunch to this informal, yet focused and informative event. Everyone is welcome.
