IMS names new principal

Stephen J. Schrag has been appointed the next principal and chief administrator for Iowa Mennonite School.

Schrag has served as principal of the Penn View Christian School in Souderton, Penn., the last eight years, and served two years before that as director of advancement. His experience also includes advancement work, dean of students, athletic director, teacher and coach.

Born in Newton, Kan., Schrag, 42, spent much of his youth in Minneapolis. He received his undergraduate degree in physical education with a health and safety/coaching minor from Goshen (Ind.) College in 1995. Schrag met his future wife, Meghan, at Goshen College, and they moved to her native area of eastern Pennsylvania following graduation. In 2013, Schrag received his M.Ed. from Penn State University in curriculum and instruction with emphasis on educational leadership in 2013.

Steve and Meghan, along with their daughters, Greta, 13, and Eden, 9, will move to southeastern Iowa this summer, where he will assume his duties at IMS on Aug. 1.
