Goshen College Symphony Orchestra to give spring ‘pops’ concert April 17

The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra, led by Dr. Christopher Fashun, will present their spring concert on Friday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door. GC faculty/staff/students free with ID.

The Goshen College Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Christopher Fashun, will present its spring concert in Sauder Concert Hall on Friday, April 17, 2015. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The program, titled “Something Old, Something New” is a pops concert that will include music from popular film composers such as John Williams, and spans multiple generations of wonderfully entertaining and exciting music.

Tickets are $7 adults, $5 seniors/students, available at the door one hour before the concert. Goshen College faculty, staff and students are free with valid ID.

Dr. Christopher Fashun is an assistant professor of music at Goshen College where he conducts the Symphony Orchestra, directs the All-Campus Band, oversees the music education program, conducts the orchestras for musicals and opera, and teaches applied percussion.

Fashun holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Saint Olaf College in Northfield (Minnesota) and received a master’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds a doctorate in orchestral conducting from the University of Iowa where he studied conducting with William LaRue Jones and viola with Christine Rutledge.
