Luke teaches and researches at Merry Lea on the moral, religious and cultural dimensions of environmental issues. He serves on the faculties of Sustainability & Environmental Education and Religion, Justice, & Society at Goshen College, where his teaching spans fields of environmental studies, religion, ethics and peace studies. At Merry Lea, he helps to facilitate the Sustainability Leadership Semester, teaches for the M.A. in environmental education, works with undergraduate students majoring in sustainability studies, and advises graduate researchers in environmental education.
