Conservation Leadership School

Upcoming high school juniors and seniors can make Merry Lea their
home for a week this summer at Conservation Leadership School. Camp and stay overnight, and explore the world of natural resources and conservation. Canoe across the top of the watershed, sample wetlands for aquatic macroinvertebrates and get a taste of careers like botany, land management or sustainable farming. Enjoy an educational and rejuvenating week with peers and professionals passionate about the natural world.

When: Monday, June 7 – Friday, June 11, 2021 (camp overnight)

Where: Merry Lea Farmstead Site (2152 S 425 W, Albion, IN 46701)

Who: High school juniors and seniors (You must be a junior/senior in the 2021-2022 academic year)

Cost: $25 per person, including lodging and meals (full scholarships available)


The week will feature many exciting opportunities:

  • Hands-on field and research experiences
  • Learning about conserving and protecting a variety of ecosystems (wetlands, forests, prairies, lakes) and animals (amphibians, birds, mammals, reptiles)
  • Canoeing, macro-invertebrate dipping, camping, swimming, and more!
  • Exploring and hiking our 1200-acre nature preserve
  • Building leadership and communication skills
  • Learning with and from your peers

HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES

Merry Lea cares about the safety of our guests and staff. We have implemented several protocols to protect everyone’s health during the program time. We ask all participants to join Merry Lea staff in following these required guidelines:

  • Self-screen before arrival
  • Wear face masks/coverings
  • Maintain 6 feet of distance at all times
  • Be assured that all materials will be sanitized before and after use by our staff
