Leah C. Risser Scholarship

Leah C. Risser was born on August 19, 1905. She grew up on the family homestead in Pennsylvania where the counties of Lancaster, Lebanon, and Dauphin meet. After graduating from Goshen College in 1931, Leah began teaching at the Milton Hershey Boys’ School in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She taught there until her retirement. Through the years Leah was significantly involved with the Mennonite Mission in Steelton, Pennsylvania. She also completed her Master’s Degree in Childhood Education at Columbia University.

Leah has been committed to education and to the church throughout her life. In 1992 she communicated her decision to set up an endowed scholarship fund at Goshen College. Her first contribution to the fund was made in December of that year. In addition to contributions from Leah, family members and/or friends may add to the fund at any time.
