Director of Admissions

Goshen College seeks a  Director of Admissions. This position plans, directs, implements, evaluates and reports on a comprehensive program of recruitment and admissions for undergraduate students. Possessing enthusiasm for student success, strong management and communication skills, market oriented skills, understanding of admissions-related information technology, and an ability to develop and implement effective recruitment plans. The Director of Admissions coordinates with the supervisor and relevant campus committees in establishing and meeting new student enrollment goals.

This is a full-time position, 1.0 FTE, eligible for a full and generous benefits package.

Essential Functions (Core Job Responsibilities)

  • Recruitment & Student Engagement (20%) – Takes primary responsibility for student recruitment and enrollment of incoming first-year and transfer students.
  • Territory Development and Management (20%) – Takes primary responsibility for strategy development and oversight of Counselor relationships with coaches, high school personnel, churches, GC alumni, and friends in all markets. Takes primary responsibility for developing and maintaining reports related to recruitment markets.
  • Application and Enrollment Process (25%) – Responsible for the admissions process and communicates admission requirements internally to key stakeholders and externally to schools and influencing assigned students to progress through the admissions process. Utilizes available data to appropriately track progress to reach annual goals.
  • Manage Admissions Operations (25%) – Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Admissions Office and provides direct supervision of Admissions functions. Includes supervision, development, and evaluation of Admissions employees.
  • Inter- and Intra- Institutional Representation of Admissions (10%) – Responsible for representing Admissions both externally via memberships and relationships, and internally with key stakeholders.

  • Associate and Assistant Admissions Directors
  • Senior Admissions and Admissions Counselors

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • 5-6 years prior experience in higher education, preferably in an area of enrollment
  • Thorough understanding of the college admissions operation, including aspects of financial aid, and auxiliary / support functions.

  • Background with sales automation systems / databases. Willingness to learn new software programs.
  • Commitment to professional development for self and all Admissions staff.

PREFERRED –

  • Ability to communicate at a basic level in Spanish.
  • Prior experience working with Jenzabar One and Salesforce.

Special Requirements 

  • Travel required related to student recruitment events, professional meetings and relevant College business. Travel could include overnight and/or extended stay.
  • Evening/night/weekend work required in representing the College at recruitment events and also during specific times of the recruitment cycle in order to reach/meet recruitment goals.
