Personal Information

Chris M. Wood is a vowed member of the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is part of the liturgical musician group for the Sunday Assembly at Dominican Center, Marywood [Motherhouse campus for Chris's congregation]. Chris has served on several congregational committees, including the 2012 Chapter Steering Committee, Aquinata Task Force, and the Continuum of Life Committee. Chris holds a MS and PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco, where her dissertation was an insider ethnography interviewing twenty elderly nuns about quality of life.

Since coming to Goshen College, Chris has served on Nursing Departmental committees, as GCNSA advisor, and on a campus-wide Writing Committee. In addition to having supervised undergraduate clinical rotations at the Greencroft Goshen campus, Chris served on the Greencroft Goshen Healthcare Renovation Task Force. She also has been an abstract reviewer for the Gerontological Society of America and American Geriatrics Society annual meetings, as well as serving on the Kappa Gamma Pi Cornaro Scholarship Committee.

As a second-career nurse, Chris brings a strong liberal arts background of a double major in History and Religious Studies and eight years of elementary school teaching to her nursing faculty endeavors at Goshen College. A native of the Los Angeles area, Chris continues to avidly follow her favorite teams: Dodgers, Kings, Lakers, USC Trojans, while keeping up with Midwestern teams.
