Arts Encounters

“To pursue peace we must understand each other better, and the arts are a way to do this.” These words from our second lesson with Liu Qingyang, Professor and Master Tutor of Calligraphy, echoed through other recent arts experiences including two dance classes and the first of two sessions on Chinese traditional music. We were able to physically engage in creative expression, see history and culture through an aesthetic lens, and observe arts pedagogy in action in China. Each teacher expressed appreciation to us for being interested in the arts of China, and we tried to return our deep gratitude for their generous instruction.

Scenes from below capture other recent events and scenes. This weekend is more relaxed as we anticipate the second half of the study portion of our SST.
