Leaf Line Speed Networking Registration

Friday, March 7, 2014
4:00 – 5:00 pm (optional open networking reception from 5:00 – 5:30)
Fellowship Hall, College Mennonite Church

The majority of available jobs are not advertised (some say up to 80%). So it makes sense to spend time talking with people–especially GC alumni–to learn about hidden positions. We’re making it easier for you to do just that. During brief, round robin sessions, you and other students will talk with alumni for short conversations to introduce yourself, discover career related information, and possibly even some job leads.

In order to participate, you must complete the registration form below. Please note, this event is open only to Goshen College students and alumni.

Step # 2: Personal Introduction

When networking or job searching, people need to know:

  • Who you are (name, major, class level)
  • What you have done to gain skills and experience, and
  • What you hope to do in the future or information needed to decide

A personal introduction is a short memorable paragraph that introduces you and succinctly conveys all of this information in less than a minute.
Review the sample introduction on the information page for an example but answer the following questions and be prepared to practice this at the event:

- Who you are (name, major, class level)
- Skills and experience you’ve gained
- What you hope to do in the future or information needed to decide

Create a short memorable paragraph that introduces you and succinctly conveys all of this information in less than a minute. Below is an outline to get started.

1. I am (CURRENTLY)
2. I have done or learned (PAST)
3. I plan to (FUTURE)
4. I need (INFORMATION)
