(1/9/2014) I went to grad school and got a Ph.D. from Notre Dame in physics but I’m a software consultant now. I figured out in grad school I didn’t want to pursue physics as a career (I didn’t want to teach physics and a research post-doc seemed like a dead end) so I taught myself how to write code while in grad school (I wrote computer simulations for my thesis.) I worked at Notre Dame for awhile and then got a full-time job at Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan as a database administrator. Now, for the past 5 years I’ve been a software consultant. I work with SAP software – it’s software used by business for their accounting and payroll and so on.
