TO PREPARE your audition, you will need the following:

1. Acting portion = Prepare to tell (not read!) a 1-2 minute story that teaches a lesson.  This could be a personal experience from your own life, a parable, a fable, but this should be TOLD to us, not written down or read to us.  DO NOT go over 2 minutes please!  If you’re not sure where to start, look up a Parable in Matthew or Luke and tell it in your own words.  Questions? Contact Dr. Doug Liechty Caskey at douglc@goshen.edu or Umble Center 131.
2. Singing portion = We are looking for strong actors who can sing and dance. While music-reading is a plus, it is not a requirement. Actors should prepare 16 bars of a pop/rock song or a pop/rock selection from a musical. It may or may not be a selection from Godspell 2012.  It also doesn’t need to be exactly 16 bars, and it should demonstrate your best singing.  Please sing from memory, and bring a copy of your music for the accompanist.  If you need help, there will be some possible excerpts for different voice types outside of Dr. Hochstetler’s office, MC 217.
3. Dancing portion = Our choreographer, Maggie Weaver, will teach you a short dance sequence during the audition as part of a small group of dancers.  Please be prepared to move.  Bring comfortable clothes to move in (yoga pants, sweats, NO JEANS), and shoes (if you have dance shoes: ballet or jazz. If not, tennis shoes are fine), and water.

4. Availability: Bring your class and work schedule to the audition.  THIS IS IMPORTANT!

IF you are auditioning for the ONE ACT ONLY, you are not required to sing or dance at the audition (so you can disregard #2 and 3 above).

IF you are interested in working backstage as part of the production crew, contact Andrew Moeggenborg, Technical Director at andrewm1@goshen.edu
