Environmental Science & Sustainability Open House

Friday September 28th, 2012
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

This is an event for high school students interested in studying environmental science or sustainability at Goshen College.

Come spend a day exploring Goshen College’s programs in ecology, sustainability, & environmental science.  Students will tour our 1,189 acre field station, Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center. This is your invitation to explore tallgrass prairies, collect water quality data on High Lake, and visit with current GC students taking the Sustainability Semester in Residence.

Sustainability Initiatives on Campus

9:00 a.m.  Registration
9:15 a.m.   Welcome & tour of sustainability initiatives on campus

10:15         Leave for Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center

Lunch & Programming at Rieth Village

11:00 a.m.   Tour of LEED-Platinum certified cottages at Rieth Village
12:00 p.m.   Agroecology & Sustainability programs at Goshen College

Field Activities

1:00 p.m.   Collecting water data on High Lake
2:00 p.m.   Prairie research at Luckey’s Prairie

3:30 – 4:00     Farewell and Wrap-up  
5:00        Arrive back on campus
