This assignment uses photography to document evidence of people. This is a starting place in an attempt to change our habits of seeing. Out of Context This assignment grows out of ideas about creativity and art. It asks you to include things that would traditionally not belong in the photograph. It forces juxtapositioning of the unexpected. For many, this can also be a challenge to our typical expectations for a photograph and our habits of seeing. Night This assignment is photographed at night with available light and longer exposures. The Zone System Again It is a way to maximize the contrast range of the negative even if the scene has too little or too much contrast. Theater or other Performance Event High Key - Low Key Self as Subject Students may present a proposal. This assignment is a surrealist self portrait. Digital Photography as an Art Form Students may present a proposal. This assignment uses scanning, digital cameras, software, and computers. The goal is to create something that grows from the digital process and is impossible by traditional means. Independent work Some Other Options based on traditional photography assignments. Look in photography books and write your own assignment and have it approved. Follow the format of the above assignments when you write it.
