I’m not one of those people who puts tons of stock in astrology, but I do read my horoscope. I find that I bear a lot of resemblance to the basic characteristics of my sign, Taurus. In addition to my academic work, I find lots of ways to enjoy life in my “spare time.” These days, I tend to find cooking, getting ready to knit my first sweater after knitting quite a few scarves, and exercise through walking and yoga to be what I’m most eager to do. My cookbooks of choice are from the World Community Cookbook series (published by Mennonite Central Committee and Herald Press), my trusty collection of Moosewoods (Low-Fat Favorites, Daily Special, Book of Desserts, Simple Suppers, and Moosewood Celebrates), and the most current issue of Vegetarian Times magazine. The yarn for my sweater is hand-dyed wool from Schaefer Yarns—the color concept is called “Shirley Chisholm.” And I found a pattern called “Sonnet” on Knitty.com that I’m going to try.
