1.  Fast and Slow SHUTTER SPEEDS (Catch  a moving target!)

Take 5 pictures at very high speeds (1/250 of a second or more) and 5 at very slow speeds (less than 1/30 of a second). Be sure to include at least one subject that is moving in both slow and fast shots.

Hand in:

 
1. Shot record; 2. Negatives in sleeve; 3. Contact sheet;

4. 2 - 4" X 5"prints (1- fast speed, 1- slow speed)
 

2. DEPTH OF FIELD / SELECTIVE FOCUS Shoot photos of subjects (with interesting shape distributions) that are spread through deep space away from the camera lens (e.g. might include trees scattered across a landscape, etc.). Take some shots in which only a small portion of the image is in focus (minimum depth of field) and some in which virtually all of the subjects are in focus (maximum depth of field). Hand in:

1. Shot record; 2. Negatives in sleeve; 3. Contact sheet;

4. 2 - 4" X 5" prints (1- minimum depth of field, 1- maximum depth of field)
 

3. HOW YOUR METER READS LIGHTS AND DARKS   Add to end of #2 roll Simply using the reading given to you by your camera's light meter, shoot the following:
      1. A white wall
      2. A plain blue sky
3. A wall of medium tonality (e.g. a brick wall)

4. A wall of dark tonality (e.g. black wall)

Hand in: as contact sheet only.
 

Due dates:
Friday February 4: negatives in sleeve
Wednesday February 9   contact sheet
Monday Feb. 14:    all 4 prints* (+ shot lists, negatives and contact sheet) in plastic sleeves in notebook.

* Label all prints on back in pencil and provide computer printed labels for each print (e.g. "Maximum Depth of Field", etc.)
