Getting Ready

These are lists of things users will need to do to get ready for the switch.  For all users mail and calendar events will be moved automatically.

Getting Ready for Students

  • If you are using your address book in Roundcube, after the move to Zimbra you will receive an email containing this link. Clicking on this link will allow you to download a copy of your address book saved in a .csv file. You will then need to import this file in to Zimbra. Instructions for importing address books to Zimbra can be found on the Zimbra Mail Help page.
  • If after the switch you notice you are missing any mail or folders, please contact ITS immediately.

Getting Ready for Faculty/Staff

  • Before 10:00 p.m. on July 10, print out your list of Tasks from Oracle and enter them manually in the Task feature in Zimbra.
  • If you are using Roundcube, you will need to move your address book from Roundcube to Zimbra manually (if you want it).  To do so, follow this link, which will allow you to download a copy of your address book saved in a .csv file. You will then need to import this file into Zimbra. Instructions for doing so can be found on the Zimbra Mail Help page.
  • If you are using an address book in Thunderbird, and you want your address book to also be available in Zimbra, you will need to export your address book from Thunderbird and import it into Zimbra.  Instructions for exporting address books from Thunderbird can be found on the Thunderbird Help page.  Instructions for importing address books into Zimbra can be found on the Zimbra Mail Help page.
  • If you are using a vacation message that you set up in GCOnline, it will no longer work in Zimbra. Zimbra handles it's own vacation messages. To re-setup your vacation message in Zimbra, go to Preferences>Mail. Scroll down to "Receiving Messages" section, and put a check next to "Send auto-reply message". Enter the text of the message you want in the box, and select a starting and ending date. Click on "Save" when you are done.
  • If you had filters set up in Thunderbird, they may be broken. If so, you will need to re-set them up. ITS recommends that you set up filters in Zimbra instead, that way they will be in place whether you use Thunderbird or Zimbra mail.
  • If after the switch you notice you are missing any mail, folders, or calendar info, please contact ITS immediately.
