Sim cards, geckos on the ceiling, humid heat= lots of sweat, bright sun, dusty streets, local fisherman’s market, a birthday, pool time, city walking, sun burns, fresh juices, piles of rice and delicious sauces, naps, laughter, navigating transportation, walking through the mass of humanity that is Kariakoo market, and sessions of information for this semester in Tanzania. This weekend held so much for these 9 students beginning their SST experience. We have been so excited to receive them and be witness to some really awesome intercultural learning. This was a busy and rich weekend full of so many things. The Friday morning sunrise erased the apprehensions of arriving in the dark the night before and students were ready to face their first days in Dar. Here are a few pictures of our weekend before meeting their host families. .
