Fair Trade Coffee Trip to El Salvador
Patio workers move piles of beans throughout the day to expose the beans to the sun for optimum drying conditions. When the beans are dried to the right level, husks are removed and the beans are put into 100-pound sacks for transportation to an exporter. A sample of the beans is given to APECAFE, the group working on behalf of cooperatives to market their product and invest back into the cooperatives that are part of the APECAFE organization. APECAFE also provides training and assistance to the communities as they make decisions about their crops.
