2005 Goshen College Orientation Weekend - Aug. 19-21

Goshen College opened its doors to new students during Orientation Weekend, Aug. 19-21, with activities ranging from an official welcome to a Sunday morning worship service to a retreat time at Merry Lea Environmental Center.
 
The largest first-year class since 1999 – approximately 200 students – walked through those doors onto campus, and among them were a record 14 National Merit Finalists. The previous record for Goshen College in one year was seven students, and the school has averaged less than four National Merit Finalists per year. In the Class of 2009, 25 percent of the students are from Elkhart County, 42 percent are from Indiana and another 30 percent are from Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio.
 
First-year students began moving into Kratz, Miller and Yoder residence halls at 8 a.m. Saturday. Returning students arrived later in the weekend. Classes begin Aug. 24 at 8 a.m.
